Manuka Honey
Type: Food
Manuka Honey is made by bees that pollinate the Manuka flower, which is native to New Zealand only. What differentiates Manuka Honey from ordinary honey is its antibacterial property, which is contributed by the nectar of the Manuka flower, thus giving rise to Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) ratings.
UMF rating exists to ensure signature compounds of Manuka Honey are available to ensure purity and quality of the product. The UMF grading number determines the combined levels of these signature compounds thus the higher the UMF grade, the more potent the Manuka Honey is.
With its antioxidative and antibacterial properties, It is traditionally used for wound healing, soothing sore throats, and improving oral and digestive health.
