Betaine
Betaine, otherwise know as betaine anhydrous, is a substance made by the body that is involved in healthy heart and liver function, cellular reproduction and carnitine production.
Betaine anhydrous helps the the body to metabolise a chemical called homocysteine. While homocysteine is essential for the normal functions of many different parts of the body (blood, bones, eyes, heart, muscles, nerves and brain), too much homocysteine can damage the lining of the arteries. Hence, Betaine anhydrous can help to manage homocysteine levels and reduce the risk of heart disease and homocystinuria.
Studies also show that Betaine anhydrous can help to protect against harmful fatty deposits in the liver, which is most commonly caused by lifestyle factors such as an overintake of alcohol, obesity and leading a static lifestyle.
